Frédéric Behart
Frédéric Behart was born in 1956 in Auxerre, France. Early exposed to the Arts,
he is a truly self-taught artist. From the beginning at his first exhibition in 1980 at la Malmaison in Cannes he got a first price in water-colour and sold his first paintings.
As a water-colour specialist he developed a great technique in oil and is first recognized internationally in1989 through his jazz portraits like Lionel Hampton, Dizzy Gillespie and the Modern Jazz Quartet. Travelling widely throughout the mediterranean particularly in Morrocco, Tunisia, Italy, Greece and Southafrica brought him to new inspirations.
Through these various trips the artist found and met his mediterranean roots.
The results are fascinating abstracts and figurative works with bright and warm colours. Since 25 years Frédéric Behart exhibits regularly abroad. Cities like Cannes, L.A.,New York, Capetown, Patmos and Marrakech haved welcomed his marvellous emotive, sensual and intense works. Behart has lived in the South of France, in Italy, in North and South Africa and is now based in Hamburg.
